Actually, for most mailing lists (and I don't think this one is an exception) 
there are usually 'regulars' who recognise this all too well and don't mind 
repeating information. It's the nature of the hobby I suppose that people 
often like talking about what they know.

Personally I prefer asking questions on the list too - when it comes to 
specialist knowledge on obsolete equipment, Google tends to turn up lots of 
theoretical discussion with claims and counter-claims. Technical mailing lists 
are far more likely to get a response from someone who has 'current' knowledge 
of the question / problem rather than someone who's operating from hazy memory.
