I just had a thought - what I would really quite like is a PCI card for a PC 
which provides all the BBC expansion interfaces: Tube, 1MHz bus, Econet, 
floppy etc.

That way in theory an emulator could do all of the work and utilise the PC 
keyboard and video display. Desk space would be saved though because I don't 
need the beeb itself or a separate monitor, but I can still play around with a 
lot of the add-on hardware if I wanted (the big thing that puts me off 
emulation) or homebrew my own.

In fact, a PCI card with just a flexible bus and power output on it would 
presumably do, as things like Econet, 1MHz bus, Tube etc. can be derived from 
it with very little in the way of external hardware.
