[BBC-Micro] Monitors

I've had quite a bit of experience with 'scan
doublers'
etc, and it can be tricky to get a good picture. I
tried
several different makes of scan-doubler with the BBC
and most had issues, ie there was a noticable flicker,
or
distortion of the picture, or problems with colours.

In the end I found a hand made device intended for a
Tandy
Color computer which worked a treat, even text was
readable
and very usable in the higher res modes. Unfortunately
this
device seems no longer available (I have tried).

The device required H & V syncs which I took from the
video
chip in the BBC, as well as the regular RGB signals. I
used
3 variable resistors to get the voltages down to
around 1.6v
which the converter needed. Although it worked OK with

the full TTL level voltage, the converters let me
'tune'
the colours correctly as there was some mismatch.

My ongoing mission with the BBC B+ is to connect it to
a
KVM. I have the video working OK and now working on
the PS2
keyboard conversion via the excellent PS2 converter
system
developed by Sprow. I'll let the group know if I
manage
to get it all working.

If anyone else has experience with PS2 conversion for
the
BBC it would be great to here.

Ian.
